There needs to be some MORE protection for relatives that reside out of the county. I have a 2 year old nephew that was taken by CPS in the same state, CA, but 12 hours from me. He was taken from his parents custody, Nov. 2007, at 17 months. December 2007, I verbally and in writing notified CPS of my relation to the child, that he lived with MY family for the first 10 months of his life, and my intent to have him either temporarily until r/u or permanently for adoption! HERE it is November 2008, after 2 relative placement approvals, adoption home study approval!!!!, and several trips to see him, he is still in a foster home that WANTS to adopt him! I am fighting but where is the justice??????? Relatives need to be protected more than a foster parent that WANTS your kin, EVEN if they foster that child for reunification purposes. NO child should be punished due to the location where they were taken. firstname.lastname@example.org
