I am a totally disabled retired vet who is dependent upon your signing this bill. Its approval will correct an error that was made in FY 2004, when unemployable vets were accidentally omitted from the reinstatement of retired pay.

You are going to have to write to Mr. Akaka(D Hawaii) and thank him yourselves.

Senator Ensign(R Nevada) was instrumental too.

This bill extents education benefits to Guard/Reserve members for 10 years after they seperate. But the rules the VA has posted state if a soldier leaves drill status and goes to Inactive status the 10 year rule does not apply. The catch is Guard/Reserve contracts almost always require a soldier to go to the inactive reserves when they seperate active status. Which makes them ineligible for the extented benefit.

Can anyone out there tell me how this bill will help me?

I am an IU that actually was working when I became disabled. I did not get to retire from the military but was forced out due to a knee problem(almost 15 years), no retirement just dis .sep. pay. I am at the 100% rate(90% actual P&T). The VA still takes the 20%

out of my VA entitlement! I had more than one disability but they only gave me 20% for the knee(1992). Social Security Disability in my state is very uncaring and unfair. I have to use a cane to walk anymore and its very difficult to drive. It looks like this bill is mainly for military retires, and not for the veteran who could not retire, and of course we Vietnam vets who have got the shaft since President Johnson quit and left over 58000 to

be killed. Any one know how we are getting help by this bill?

john mccain is no friend of the veteran, he is not a war hero, as he like to make the idiots out there believe, the true heros of the u.s military gave their lifes so we the wounded veterans can be here, john mccain is not a hero, just another veteran, who happen to become a pow, if john is a war hero, what do they call us the veterans who got wounded fighting on the battle field.,john mccain does not know how much houses he owns, war heros, cant afford $500 per pair shoes, like john mccain can,Mccain is so far out of touch, veterans dont be fool by john mccain hype, he dont give a damm about any veterans, he is just using us to get to the white house, my vote he WILL NOT GET,look at his house in sedona arizona, with the private airstrip for his private jet.veterans cant afford to think like that, much less live decent on the retirement from the military, or the va pension, send john mccain away, he is no friend of the veterans
