I am a Monacan as was my parents, grandparents, great grandparents back to 1700 marriage rolls.. I am for the Bill because its the right thing todo for all Virginia Indians.. That their birth rite was stolen by Plecker and his pen on the birth records.. My sister Mary B Wade started VITAL for Federal recognition but passed away April 18 2003 Not seeing the victory after many hours of labor for this Bill Thomasina Jordan her friend and mentor Also gave her life for this cause.. Lobbing from a wheel chair just days before she passed.

I too am for this bill. I am not Monacan but believe recognition of the Monacan Nation is LONG overdue.

I am Monacan and it is time that our ancestors get the recognition and respect they deserve. Our families went through so much and even now we have to prove ourselves. The time is now.
