August 19, 2009, 4:01pm (report abuse)It has been a little over 2 years since my mother died from Huntington's Disease. She had to wait the 24 months to receive Medicare benefits and had to complete forms several times to state she had "not improved" in order to continue to receive SS benefits. No one ever improves from this disease and those diagnoised with it should not have to worry about continuation benefits dependant upon completion of these forms. Along with my mother, I have have lost my grandmother, aunts, uncles, and cousins to this disease. Those of us left are watching and wondering each day if we will be the next in a long line of family memebers to become afflicted. Who will be the next member of my family to have to worry about medical bills and obtaining much needed care during the early stages of this disease. Please stop this legacy of worry and waiting and provide your support to this bill.
