October 8, 2009, 10:49am (report abuse)Great just what we need, more confusion. If the house did things right in the first place they wouldn't have to introduce another bill.

October 8, 2009, 11:00am (report abuse)I think people are just frustrated and that makes it easy to be rude. Just wait until there are millions of homeless people on the street waiting in soup lines. I wouldn't worry about some foul mouth rants. Things could be much, much, MUCH worse.
Be fair to all unemployeds
October 8, 2009, 11:24am (report abuse)When the congressional leaders passed a bill that favors 23 states The thinking is, the people in the other 27 states who exhausted all benefits will somehow move out of active job seeking and reduce the unemployment rate numbers. Some may sell the house and move to another state or seek social assitance or be homeless. Why not deny unemployment to high unemployment rate states and drive away those people to other states. Anyhow the states like MI auto sector is already dead and manufacturing jobs are gone for good. The people need to move to other states or do what the unemployeds are doing in the other 27 states. The leaders need courage to tell them not to seek unemployment extension anymore and understand the changing reality and move on, let them find their own ways to survive. To encourage migration stop giving unemployment extension to the high unemployment state because they will come back again for another extension after 13 weeks or give benefits to ALL states.

Where is the Bill text?
October 8, 2009, 12:16pm (report abuse)How can anyone vote on this bill either yea or nea if the text of the bill itself is not available for consideration. "It is like putting the cart before the horse." I will wait to read the text before I vote on the bill.

October 8, 2009, 4:02pm (report abuse)These senators never worked as developer/designer/implementer-programmers. If they did the would have gathered information on "reality of need", human factors, set up requirements,FREEZE-DATES,frozen(things),implemented then- And Simultaneously had a parallel version running for 'next-revision'. And every three months put out a patch, have a new version ready to be (voted, revised/ abandoned, Redesigned.) implemented.
But what do you expect of an undisciplined bunch, who even lack
Creativity(except to give tall stories-of Appalachian Trails-that even then people don't buy.)The problem is these very small peoples background is limited to: politicking for themselves'[and making strange bedfellows].Reluctantly have to admit that politics attracts only the 'bottom feeders'[rich or poor] who prey on others efforts and 'creativity' -always always. They are certainly not intellectuals, lack character, make money off others goodtime, capitalize on their bad-times. Statesmen they are not.!

Keep calling your senator for support
October 8, 2009, 8:59pm (report abuse)Please keep calling your senators especially the republicans. Unfortunately republicans are unfairly demonized here. They are also human being and they do have to answer to their unemployed voters in their constituency. Please request them to improve the senate bill by adding tax free status for the benefit amount. I tries and my senators office listened . Please keep doing it for the next 4 days. It is crucial. Ask your friends, work force center friends and relatives to call. Have faith, this is not a time to be angry.
Hopeful Today
October 10, 2009, 12:54pm (report abuse)If you go to the library of congress and put the bill 3756, there is no such bill to be found. Usually all of the bills are there. Don't know why that one is not or maybe because it is so new. Anyway, thanks for the info.
For Hopeful Today
October 10, 2009, 4:15pm (report abuse)It takes a day or two for the bills to get posted in library of congress info. And with the holiday and Friday before day off it probably won't show up until at least Tuesday.

October 10, 2009, 5:35pm (report abuse)H.R.3548, H.R.3757, H.R.3404, H.R.3149, H.R.155 and S 1647, S1699 . however the text of these bills are confuseing..one says that it would extend benifits for who are running out of benifits by the end of the year. what about people who already ran out? we need something passed that would cover all people who had benifits from last year and ran out their extensions in the beginning of the year.. these people are now homeless or they are in debt because they had to survive while they had no income. these people MUST be included! I live in a state where the unemployment rate is above 10% and the Countys rate is at 12% and I hear stories of thousands of people who ran out of benifits a few months ago, and are in line at the social services only to be turned down because the county can not handle the case load because they cut back on staff. so people are becoming homeless, leaving the state to go live with famiely, or commiting suside. something MUST BE DONE! AND QUICK!!!!!!!!

October 13, 2009, 12:14pm (report abuse)Guys ..relax re reading the bills. Congress votes on one page summaries all the time and then writes the bill later. anyone heard of healthcare and the Baucus Bill.

October 13, 2009, 3:29pm (report abuse)it is absolutely imperative that this bill pass. there are no jobs available in this state, and alot of us are living employment check to check, allowing any unnecessary expenses to fall behind (such as car insurance - seems important until it comes down to the decision to drive legally or keep a roof over your head). To those of you who think unemployment checks are a preference to working, you are solidly wrong. Please have a heart - there are alot of us out there holding our breaths, knowing that if this fails, we are on the streets for the winter. Our check ran out 2 weeks ago and we haven't bought food since then. Even if the checks are approved next week, we will be 3 weeks behind in coming up with rent money and we may be out anyway. We are definitely hungry. Help!!

October 14, 2009, 12:47pm (report abuse)Yes it is frustrating waiting for this next extension, as I am applying at hundreds of jobs on the internet and in person every single day..obama isn't making things better, its getting worse, yeah yeah everyone hated bush right, but is obama gonna be any better???? If bush were still in office, we'd have this damn extension by now.. the senate wants to see how much we squirm, its almost like hanging someone from their toenails for days

October 14, 2009, 1:28pm (report abuse)Where was the CBO score when senate gave themselves the budget raise they “quietly” voted on? Where was the CBO score when we gave away billions to corrupt banks, insurance companies and foreign countries? Where was the CBO score on the cost of the Senate’s healthcare, retirement plan, automatic raises, and private jets?
I have changed to the Independent party(after 50 years). I will vote for every fresh face that runs for office, unless I see a major and quick change in our current parties treatment of the American worker. I encourage everyone to call their Senator’s asking them to act on behalf of working American’s for a change. As far as the $24 it will be dumped back in the local economies as fast as it is received. That is stimulus and may keep myself and many others from being homeless and the heat on.
Let’s not forget that it is our leaders actions or lack of actions that put us in this place, not us! We would rather have a JOB but somehow they are all in China?

October 15, 2009, 6:34pm (report abuse)Come on Republicans, get on board with this unemployment extension thing. There are many of us republican voters out here in need of a little help. We voted you in and we can vote you out. We don't forget. You know its our money that you are playing with. 7.5 billion for Pakistan. What's that all about when the ones that pay the bills are in need of a little help to get back our financial health. Stop farting away our money and get this thing passed. Remember, WE DON'T FORGET......

October 15, 2009, 8:03pm (report abuse)The Democrats and Republicans need to set aside party differences and remember we the people elected them to represent us. We can also make sure they do not get reelected. There are no jobs out there but they do not care, instead they give themselves raises and have long holidays

October 16, 2009, 12:28pm (report abuse)I'm so sick of these Republican Senators, tying to block this Unemployment Extension. Call them, everyone call these Republican Senators, tell them what it's like to be hoping, waiting, waiting for this bill to pass. So sick of these Republicans, ignorant, intolerant, self-righteous ass holes!

October 16, 2009, 3:44pm (report abuse)It is disgusting that extremely overpaid Wall Street executives and their dishonest firms get an immediately ballout for behaving in the most dishonest and disgusting way and bringing the U.S. economy to its knees. Yet, hard-working individuals who have had to ball out dishonest people get a "kick in the ass" from the Republicans when all they want is to collect what they have paid into the system and rightfully belongs to them. I will never ever even consider for a fraction of a split second of voting for a Republican in this lifetime. I'd also like to know why any CEO, President, or Chairman of the Board of a Wall Street firm can remain in a job after they have proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that they are totally and completely dishonest and clearly illerate. They should all be firmed immediately.

October 17, 2009, 10:33am (report abuse)I hear over and over about the average senor receiving $1100.00 a month. Forced to take social security early, I receive $750.00 a month and depend on a job that doesn't exist. At least give us a chance by extending the unemployment benefits to stop borrowing and begging to survive. If I did my job like the heads of Wall Street or ourgovenors, mayors etc...I would be fired immediately. Why are the republicans nit picking on us and letting the real thieves survive? Answer - they have a job and a salary as well as outstanding benefits thanks to us. What an embarrasement they are.
