How could the tribe who's leader was is the namesake for Seattle NOT be a federally recognized tribe?!

Please right this wrong, support and pass H.R. 2678, The Duwamish Tribal Recognition Act.

I could not agree more with Katherine. The Duwamish Tribe signed the Treaty of Point Elliot in 1855 as a sovereign nation. They were guaranteed certain rights, and inherently guaranteed their sovereignty. The Federal Government has never fulfilled the promises set out in this treaty, and the Duwamish Tribe still finds itself today without their recognition. Please make a difference and tell your politicians, wherever they may be, that they should support the outright recognition of the Duwamish Tribe, Seattle's first people.
