June 18, 2009, 10:14am (report abuse)This directly affects my sister whose husband is missing in action, it's hard enough to deal with the loss, but having your family not taken care of is unforgivable from our government.

June 18, 2009, 11:36am (report abuse)H.R. 2585 corrects an oversight by requiring the government to do the right thing for American citizens when government employees without common sense or human compassion have to make a decision.

June 19, 2009, 2:02pm (report abuse)Keeps the playing field even with the law of the land - you wait 7 years to declare a missing person dead.

June 22, 2009, 2:23pm (report abuse)Sounds similar to the MIA/POW effort DoD set up for Vietnam!! It's sad the government still hasn't learned compassion. It's hard enough to be on active duty .. what a crass way to "save money".

June 22, 2009, 4:16pm (report abuse)If one of our legislators went missing, I am sure s/he would expect his or her family to be taken care of. It is shameless the way the politicians treat all of those serving our country by putting their lives on the line. The low pay and diminishing benefits for those serving are shameful. Let's get this bill passed to ensure the families of those who are missing will be taken care of.

June 22, 2009, 11:07pm (report abuse)We are still finding guys who were MIA in Vietnam. What the hell is this limitation about -- some dollar saving scheme to leave more money for the congress to steal for their airplanes or swimming pools??? What are the people who are doing the REAL fighting worth? One airplane Mrs. Pelosi, one swimming pool? Time to get real.
