While you're at it why not do away with The Air Force and make them part of the Army like they originally were ?

My Opinion is this will prevent future politicians from attempting to do what they have attempted in the past. Dissolve the marine Corp. and fold it into the Army. The Separation of the Marine Corp. from the Navy While allowing both branches to Operate together will preserve Marine training integrity and allow the marines to continue to be "The Worlds Finest Fighting Force!" Yes? No?

How is this not going to cost US families any money? Are they not going to have to redesign letterhead, insignias etc? Or is this all free?

sounds more like a greater plan to eventually join all branches of service under one umbrella. doesn't sound like a solid plan at all.

former USMC and this is just stupid, politicians finding away to desolve the Marine Corps the one branch that told Pelose to stick it about women training with the men!

The Marine Corps is already a part of the Dept. of the Navy. This elevates the USMC to coequal status with the Navy by incorporating it in the title of the department.

What is the determining factor for figuring out cost? I don't see how this could NOT be a cost. New flags, new letterheads, etc... Also, what's the point? Are we seriously wasting time in congress on this issue? What constituency wanted this bad boy to go through?

Here in Vermont we have a saying: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." Such meddling as Mr. Jones is attempting illustrates that he can have no idea of the pride, the sense of fraternity, and high regard in which career Navy and Marine Corps hold each other. Nor can he be much of a student of American history if he doesn't appreciate the rich traditions his unnecessary and unwanted interference threaten to belittle. Having had time now to calm down after my initial anger, all I can say is, Mr. Jones, keep your land-lubber hands off something you don't understand; you profane a sacred relationship by your attempted meddling!

Just so everyone knows the United States Marine Corps is already a part of the navy hense the fact that it says "Department of the Navy United States Marine Corps" all they are doing is changing a name to give the Marines better credability. As an enlisted member of the marines i like the idea because we are the finest. OORAH!

I think that this they are cost cutting. Combining the two will allow them to reduce the number of upper level personnel. Most bills are about money. Navy-Dav
