June 1, 2009, 8:22am (report abuse)I have heard about due process but its missing in the Burt Lake Band recognition. It takes decades to decide one's fate. I'm disappointed in our legal system. This has turnrd out to be a real miscarriage of justice

June 4, 2009, 12:17am (report abuse)As a Greek-American.. I must say that the people of our nation have deprived and neglected the TRUE AMERICANS of this land and must GIVE to THEM was IS THEIRS. This is Freedom.. If our nation..our country is based on Freedom and Liberty then we must not subdue and prolong the giving back of what is OUR TRUE AMERICANS' PROPERTY and RIGHTS. As my ancestors in Greece say Freedom or Death.. and as our 'so called' forefathers of this land once said 'Give me liberty or give me death'.. As a Greek-American, my family and I stand behind the Native peoples' of their land. Any of people who look to hold back their original rights to this land are the true terrorists. I stand behind them and so do my fellow Greeks, Italians, and Irishmen.

September 22, 2009, 8:00pm (report abuse)I am decendent of one of the family's that were residents of the Burt Lake Reservation in 1900. My Great GrandFather and Great GrandMother had their home and all belongings destroyed in that fire. I am outraged that it is now 2009 and still the Federal goverment has witheld recognition for our band. This is a goverment that I served both in the Army and Air Force from 1963 thru 1970. I served because I belived and still do in the fact that our form of goverment was and still is the most fair to all who live here.

Instead we were tricked and our chance was SOLD OUT. if you look back into the records you may find some foul play on behalf of the BIA, TRIBES, AND ATTORNEYS.
